Easily Cut Your Own Hair Into Layers

Want to learn how to cut your own hair into layers? It’s easily done and once you do it a couple times you’ll be hooked. What this nifty how-to article will show are two layered styles; long even layers and textured layers.

Long Even Layers

Step 1: Pull your hair into a ponytail on the top of your head.

Step 2: Hold your fingers as a guide, like in the photo, at the length you wish to cut.

Step 3: Cut straight across and you’re done!

Now you have long beautiful layers! Want some added texture? Check out the additional steps below.

Long Layers with Textured Ends

Step 1: Follow steps 1 & 2 from above

Step 2: Hold your fingers as a guide only about 1 inch down from the ends and cut vertically into the hair several times (like the photo above). Please be careful so that you don’t hurt your fingers!

That’s all there is to it — no really and it works! Your hair stylist would kill us both if she found this out so lets keep it between us 🙂
