Mastercard Expanding Selfie Pay aka Big Brother Pay

Mastercard is doubling down on their new ‘Selfie Pay’ program. It’s not kinda weird and big brotheresque at all. They say it will help them cut down on false declines and to do so they just need photos of your face and you to blink your eyes for them.

Here’s an example of how it works when shopping online,

When making a purchase online from a merchant that requires identity verification, cardholders can authorize the transaction by holding up their phones as if taking a selfie and blinking—which ensure the cardholder is a live person, not just a photograph—instead inputting a password or PIN.

What do you all think? Are you cool with facial recognition to “help” out Mastercard or would you pass?
